Graveside service for Bess E Miller Bell will be at 2 p.m. this Saturday, July 16, at Spring Creek Cemetery, four miles north of Reardan. Bess, formerly of Reardan, died July 8 at Hillcrest Convalescent Center. She was 78. She was born March 21, 1916, in a farmhouse north of Reardan to John D Sr and Ida Lynch McDougall. She attended West Crescent School north of Reardan. She married Clarence A Miller in 1933, and they lived in Chewelah, Reardan and Spokane. Their Reardan home was next to Colville's garage from 1944 to 1953, and they owned a sawmill for much of that time. She moved to Pasco after Clarence died in 1966. She worked at Griggs Dept Store in Pasco and Richland. She was a member of North Hill Christian Church in Spokane. She is survived by a son and his wife, Gene A and Ginny Miller of Pasco; two granddaughters and their husbands, Gail and Jim Johnston of Pasco, and Kay and Dan Fairchild of Kennewick; two great grandchildren, Gary A Johnston and Lori Ann Johnston of Pasco; and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. The graveside service is under the direction of Strate Funeral Home in Davenport. (Davenport Times: 7-14-1994)
