1921 - 2009

Barney B. Tharp of Pace passed away peacefully November 4, 2009.
Barney was born on February 7, 1921 in Selma to Mr. and Mrs. Barney M. Tharp. He was preceded in death by Mr. and Mrs. Barney M. Tharp and previous wife of 52 years, Louisa.
Barney served in the Army during WW II and worked many years at Owsley Lumber Company. He was a long time member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Pace where he had many friends.
Barney is survived by his wife of 10 years, Lucile Tharp; step-son, Kenneth Brooks (Linda); step-daughter, Mary Sue Gainey; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two friends/neighbors, Richard Grosse (Tami) and Clain Roberts.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to service time at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 8, 2009 at Immanuel Baptist Church with entombment to follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Lloyd Singletary, Brad Craven, Dan Jones, Kenny Bryan, Carl Bowman and Dwight Whitlow.
The family would like to thank West Florida Hospital Covenant Hospice for their wonderful care and thoughtfulness not only for Barney, but for our family as well.
