Bert Claus "Whitey" Yoss Obituary
November 1969 – Passage. Bert (Whitey) Yoss, 58, 595 N. 300 E., American Fork, died Saturday evening at the American Fork Hospital of a heart Ailment.
He was born June 1, 1911, in Casper, Wyo., a son of Christian Jacob and Fredericka Filges Yoss. He married Dorothy Knox in 1930. They were later divorced.
He married Ruby Maag on Nov. 2, 1957, in Elko, Nev.
Mr. Yoss is a member of the Protestant Church. He moved to Utah in 1920 and became employed with American Bridge of U.S. Steel Corporation. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and Fraternal Order of Eagles of Provo. Mr. Yoss was also a member of the International Ironworkers Association, Local 361.
Surviving are his widow of American Fork, one son and two daughters, Charles Bert Yoss and Mrs. James (Barbara) Meyer, both of Albuquerque, N.M. and Charlene Yoss, American Fork; three step-sons and two step-daughters, Robert Byram, Albuquerque, N.M.; Kay Laursen, Provo; Hank Carpowich, Levittown, Pa.; Mrs. Jay (Norma) Mansfield, Orem and Mrs. Milton (Merle) Cox, Granger; 23 grandchildren; and two brothers and three sisters, Ernest Yoss, Montana; August Yoss, Mrs. Elsie Lovelace, Mrs. Chuck (Mildred) Angel, all of Casper, Wyo.; and Mrs, Ada Doorribor, Compton, Calif.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at noon in the American Fork Six-Eighth LDS Ward, Bishop Ira Taylor officiating. Friends may call at the Olpin Family Mortuary, 294 E. 3rd S., Pleasant Grove, Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday at the ward chapel one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the American Fork City Cemetery.
