Gerald E. Toeppe, 78, of Tiffin, died early Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at St. Francis Home, Tiffin, in the Chiara Center.
Mr. Toeppe was born February 21, 1927 in Helena to Louis and Anna Rose (Geyman) Toeppe. On October 12, 1968, he married Joan Hutchinson at Immaculate Conception Church, Willoughby. She survives in Tiffin. Many devoted nieces and nephews also survive.
Mr. Toeppe was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers - Norman, Paul and Edgar and one sister, Rosalyn Schumaker.
At the age of 16 Mr. Toeppe joined the Holy Cross Brothers, Notre Dame, Indiana, with whom he served for 20 years, the majority of which were at Gilmour Academy, Gates Mills, Ohio. He retired in 1986 from Northcoast Remanufacturing Company, Warrensville Heights. Gerald enjoyed traveling and photography.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fremont at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2005, with the Rev. David Bruning officiating. Visitation will be at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 900 North St., Fremont from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2005. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Cross Brothers or the Sisters of St. Francis, Tiffin.
