Son of Melchior "John" Mengyi and Anna Maria Magdalena Colladay, husband of Sarah Williams, daughter of Nathaniel Williams and Rachel Fleet, whom he married in 1783 in Huntington, NY, and father of Sarah and Henry Meng.

Husband of Charlotte Williams, daughter of Nathaniel Williams and Rachel Fleet, whom he married on May 24, 1792 in Orange County, NY.

Husband of Jane Nichols, whom he married in 1795 in Huntington, NY.

First owner of the well-known Doran House on Wall Street, Huntington Village, not far from Main Street.

"Christopher Meng was a native of Germantown, Pennsylvania. Why he came to Huntington we do not know, but he was a merchant here in the late 1700's, a bill of his to the town for the years1785-1786 for materials such as would have been bought to be made into clothing for the poor, so testifying. He had three wives, all of Huntington, the first and second being sisters, Sarah and Charlotte Williams, daughters of Nathaniel Williams. In 1795 he was married to Miss Jane Nichols, who had been a 'companion' of the widow, Mrs. John Lloyd, whose home was on the East Street near the head of the harbor, the Sutton Place. Christopher Meng died in 1833, his wife in 1846, an obituary noting the fact that there were no kindred to follow her to the grave. The name died in Huntington with them.

Children of his first wife died young and there were no others. His grandfather, John Christopher Meng, a master mason, designed and built the Germantown Academy, and Christopher Meng subscribed four shares toward the building of Huntington Academy in 1793. A profile portrait, silhouette, of this man is preserved, and also with his long pocketbook, its cover done in tapestry and bearing the date 1768 and the initials C.M. The silhouette is of unusual interest, for it bears on its back the identifying inscription, "Cut with Scissors by Master Hubbard, Without Drawing or Machine."
