Martha Ellen JURY PETTIS was born 10 March 1889 near Pleasantville, Marion County, Iowa a daughter of James 'Austin' JURY and Sarah 'Amanda' aka 'Mandy' ANDERSON JURY. She married Ira Glen PETTIS on 8 October 1908 at Knoxville, Marion County, Iowa. They lived on the PETTIS homestead in Kasota Township, Le Sueur County, Minnesota until 1943. That is where all the nine children were born (except the youngest Bethel Loretta PETTIS who was born in St. Peter, Nicollet County, Minnesota). Martha Ellen JURY PETTIS died on 14 April 1968. Ira and Martha were buried in Parma Cemetery.
