WILSON DAVIS

Wilson Davis, son of John Richard and Sarah Davis, was born May 3, 1884, at Hopkinsville, Ky. He passed away in his home at Oakley, Iowa, July 7, 1957.

He went to Colorado with his parents in 1887. They lived on a ranch where he spent his early boyhood. He received his schooling at Haxtun, Colo.

He was united in marriage to Ethel M. Clark Jan. 30, 1913. They lived on a ranch and farmed in Colorado and Nebraska prior to moving to Iowa in 1940.

They continued farming for a few years. When his health began to fail he quit farming and moved to Oakley and has operated the gas station and grocery store the past nine years.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father and two brothers.

He leaves to mourn: his wife, Ethel M., a foster son, Charles Clark and wife Norma of Tempe, Ariz. Also three brothers and two sisters; Burwell Davis of Prairie City, Mo., Flora Glover of Holyoke, Colo., Alvin Davis of Loveland, Colo., Bertha Etheridge of Spokane, Wash., Ezra Davis of Wheatland, Wyo., and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 13, at the Beardsley Funeral Home. The Rev. A. E. Beals officiated and interment was in Mt. Zion cemetery. The Honor Guard of the Carl L. Caviness Legion Post, Chariton, was in charge of graveside services.
