Robert C. Gerstley, 87, of South Weymouth, a retired executive, died Thursday at Logan Nursing Home in Weymouth. Mr Gerstley was a manager at Matheson Machine Works of Quincy for 32 years and was treasurer for 10 years before retiring in 1974. He was a sergeant in the Army Air Forces during World War II.
Mr Gerstley was a member of Central Electric Fans Association in Illinois and Mystic Valley Railway Association in Mystic, Conn. A lifelong resident of Weymouth, he was a graduate of Weymouth High School. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Eleanor V. (Monti) Gerstley; a brother, Arthur Gerstley of Chatham; a sister, Ruth Varmette of Ticonderoga, N.Y. and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St., South Weymouth. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham 01701-4688
