WALTER LEWIS MOON
Walter Lewis Moon, son of Martha Jane and Joseph Kinder Moon, was born near Columbia, Iowa, January 14, 1888, and died in the Yocom hospital at Chariton, Iowa, April 11, 1938, at the age of 50 years, 2 months and 27 days.
He was united in marriage with Jessie Bingham, June 1, 1904, and to them were born eight children, one daughter dying in infancy. The surviving members of the family are the wife, four daughters, Marie Stotts, Mildred Beebout, Cleo Kirby, all of Chicago, Ill., and Wilma Schulty, of Evanston, Ill., three sons, Donald, Harold and Robert, all at home and three grandchildren.
Also surviving are one brother, Elmer, of Chariton, three sisters, Dell Flanagan, of Columbia, Minnie Rooker, of Oakley, California, and Della McCullough, of Buffton, Alberta, Canada. There are also many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mae McClymond, and two brothers, Asbury and Orin Moon.
The life of the deceased was spent in the vicinity of Columbia, where he had a large circle of acquaintances who have heard with genuine regret of his passing. He was always a helpful neighbor and when needed, was always quick to respond. No sacrifice was too great for him to make for his family.
Mr. Moon's illness dates back more than a year, but his condition has been serious since last December. All that human skill and loving hands could do failed at last and another friend has been lost to us.
Funeral services were held at Columbia, Wednesday, April 13, at 3 p.m., conducted by Rev. B. H. Finch, of Bussey, assisted by Rev. Hamilton, of Columbia. Burial was made in the Strong cemetery.
