Funeral Monday For Sam Payne
Funeral services were held at the local Methodist church at 2:30 p.m. Monday for Sam Payne, 47, who died suddenly Friday afternoon at the home of his father, Edgar Payne, south of Lexington, the victim of a heart attack. Rev. Robert Shobe was in charge of the service and burial was in Lexington cemetery. The body was taken to the Musselman funeral home following death. He had been a sufferer from heart disease for some time previous to his death.
Mr. Payne, a son of Edgar and Mattie Peden Payne, was born June 11, 1905, at Glasgow, Ky., and was married to Miss Ethel Bruce in Bloomington Nov. 30, 1930. He was a member of the Moose lodge of Pontiac. He resided on a farm northwest of town.
Survivors include the widow; three sons, Richard, Jere and Glenn, at home; his father; three brothers, Gordon and William of Lexington, and Lee of Chester; four sisters, Mrs. Virginia Pingle, Bloomington; Mrs. Emma Starr of Cooksville; Mrs. Mary Harrison of Chenoa; and Mrs. Lera Hinthorn, Lexington. His mother preceded him in death.
