HILLSBORO — Elmer Hanneman, 88, Hillsboro, died Thursday, March 27, 1997, at Salem Hospital, Hillsboro. Mr. Hanneman was born Feb. 26, 1909, at rural Peabody and was a lifelong resident of the Hillsboro and Peabody areas. He was a retired farmer and a member of Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren Church, Hillsboro.
Survivors include his wife, Betty of Hillsboro; a son, Steve of Peabody; and two brothers, Harry and Joel, both of Peabody.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren Church, rural Hillsboro, the Rev. Gaylord Goertzen officiating. Burial will be in Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hillsboro Memorial Chapel, 401 S. Washington, Hillsboro 67063.

Elmer Hanneman was one of the founders of the band "The Peabody Plainsmen". That group, with various members, played together for some 60 years, and included his wife's brother, Bob Delk, on guitar.
