Uriah was the son of Asa S. and Iva Starr Bell. His parents are buried in Bell Cemetery. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. His wife, Emma Hazel Bowdoin Bell, is buried in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Elkhart, TX. In 1966, Uriah was "Comeback Farmer of the Year". He died at his home in Anderson County. The Elkhart Masonic Lodge conducted the graveside services. He was survived by his wife; three sisters, Iva Clarinda Bell Black of Houston, Erma Bell Tharp of Elkhart and Fay Bell Elliott of Colorado City, TX. His obituary appeared in the Palestine Herald-Press, Monday, 9 January 1967.
