Bass, a former Chico resident, died Jan 28 in Austin of an apparent heart attack. He was 72. Born Feb 27, 1917, in Chico, he was the son of Elias and Maude Bass, long-time owners and operators of Bass Grocery.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Gene Bass of Austin, a son, Dr. Bill Bass, Jr. and wife Kay Bass of San Angelo; a brother, Ralph Bass of Chico and a sister, Mary Crystal Martin of Bossier City, La.
