Rosemary Lola Williams was born October 4, 1923 to Isadora Mitchell & Jake Williams in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. The third of five children, Rosemary completed her high school education and worked in Okmulgee until moving to Seattle to work. A true "Rosie the Riveter" Rosemary worked for the Boeing Company during World War II, afterward she returned to Okmulgee.
After the war Cornell Blair Archie courted Rose and they were married May 1, 1944. The couple and their first two children moved to make a home in Seattle in 1951. Rosemary, a wife and mother of four children worked in and out of the home. She was an employee of the Boeing Company and also Eddie Bauer. She worked many years in Central Services at the University of Washington Medical Center until her retirement.
As a younger woman Rosemary cared for foster children in her home as well as raising her own children.
Rosemary was an avid seamstress and beautiful hostess. She was involved at church and within her community. A faithful member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Rosemary has served as a Deaconess, was a member of Ruth's Circle, Zone 5 and Zone 12. She was also a member and past President of Mt. Zion's AARP chapter. Rosemary also enjoyed her time as an active Eastern Star.
Rosemary's parents, husband Cornell Sr., and sisters Azalee Hassen, Laverne Smith and Valarie Allen preceded her in
death.
Rosemary is survived by her brother Jake Williams of New York, her children Cornell Jr., Kenneth, Linda Ingram and Michael who all reside in Washington. She is also survived by her ten grandchildren, Kimberlee, Alayne Pickens, Mary Ingram, Jammison, Kendall, Cornell III, Michael Jr., Jelani, DeAndre and Rokeya along with a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and close friends to cherish her memory.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday, December 12, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mount Zion Baptist Church, which is located at 1634 19th Avenue in Seattle. Internment will follow at Abbey View Memorial Park in Brier. Viewing is scheduled for Thursday, December 11, 2003 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Southwest Mortuary which is located at 9021
