Harold Roberson Brooks, age 66, of Newport, died Sunday, November 1, at Mariner Health of Newport.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served with the USS Henderson 785 Destroyer Escort.

He was a member of the Newport V.F.W. and American Legion Post #41.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Zelma Brooks.

Survivors: cousins, Betty Jo Miller, Newport, Edna Derrick, Dandridge, and Nancy Ruth Horner, Parrottsville; and an uncle, Walker Norris, Sevierville. Additional survivors include several cousins.

The family received friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, prior to the funeral at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home.

The funeral was 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, at Costner-Maloy Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Lester Turner officiating. Interment was in Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Military honors were provided by Morristown V.F.W. Post #5266.
