OBITUARY:

William "Bill" F. Luckey, age 78, of Owosso, formerly of Sparta passed away Saturday, March 25, 2006 at home. Bill retired in 1988 from the Grand Rapids Press after 23 years of service. Services Will Be Held At Holy Family Catholic Church in Sparta Friday, March 31, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. Msgr. Terrence Stewart Presiding. Burial Fairplains Cemetery in Sparta. Scripture Service Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. Body will rest at Jennings-Lyons Funeral Chapel. Visitation Wednesday, 2 to 9 p.m. with the family present 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the Church until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Bill was born on August 9, 1927, in Grand Rapids, MI, the son of Marion W. and Ethel B. (Singleton) Luckey. Bill married Barbara A. Liskiewitz on October 24, 1952, in Grand Rapids. She passed away in 1991. He then married Genevieve (Johnson) Jennings on December 18, 1993, in Owosso. He has been a member of the Elks Club in Owosso; Knights of Columbus; Family Motor Coach Association; the Navel & Armed Guard and Merchant Marine; National Rifle Association; American Legion #57; Memorial Healthcare Volunteer; and Retired Chief Court Officer-63rd District Court-Kent County. Bill was a graduate of Creston High School in Grand Rapids. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owosso. He moved to Owosso in 1993, having previously lived in Cedar Springs and Sparta. He served his country in the U.S. Maritime Service during World War II. Surviving are his wife, Genny M. Luckey of Owosso; children, Laura (Jerry) Jensen of Allendale, Patrick (fianceé, Melissa) Luckey of Allendale; grandchildren, Derek Jensen, Lindsey Anderson, Angelia Bott and Valerie Van Antwerp; five great grandchildren; step-children, Rae Ann (Lars) Johansson of Onsala, Sweden, Martha (Terry) Beckett of Columbus, OH, Laura (Allen) Wisenbaugh of Owosso, R. Orrin (Cindy) Jennings of Peachtree City, GA, Wells (Colleen) Jennings of Greenville, IN, Charles (Katie) Jennings of St. Louis, MO; 22 step grandchildren and 15 step great grandchildren; sister, Barbara "Pat" (Fred) Schmid of Sparta.
