FRANCES E. FORD

Frances E. Ford passed away Saturday, October 31, 2009 at a local care center in Boise. Frances was born march 2, 1919 in caldwell, the only child of Earl and Blanch (Griffin) Brooks. Frances attended school in Caldwell, graduating from Caldwell High School in 1937. Frances married leonard Ford in Lewiston, Id. on June 14, 1941. They lived in Caldwell until1952 when they moved to Nampa. Their daughter Carolyn was born in 1942 and son Michael in 1947. At age 24 Carolyn was killed by a drunk driver leaving behind her three little girls. Leonard and Frances adopted Cindy, the oldest and Bill Wilson, Frances' cousin and his wife Helen adopted the two younger girls, Suzette and Michele. For 25 years Frances worked as a medical lab tech in both the old and current Mercy Hospitals as well as Samaritan Hospital and several medical centers in Nampa. After Leonard died in 1977 and Cindy left for college, Frances retired and moved to Boise where her son lives. For the next 25 years Frances remained independent and active while enduring cancer, heart disease and three hip replacment surgeries. The third replacement was needed because she wore out the first one. She played bridge several days a week, was a active member of St. mary's church and ladies clubs, volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul thrift store and was always offering to chauffeur her friends who could no longer drive. Frances was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leonard in 1977, her daughter Carolyn in 1966 and grandson Brandon McLouth in 1994. She is survived by her son Mike (Mary Jane) Ford, daughter Cindy (Bill) McLouth, granddaughters Suzette (Dan) Driscoll, Michele (Chris) Ashford, grandsons Andy (Katie) Ford, Matthew McLouth, step granson Shawn Luke, great grandchildren Danae (Jason) Perkins, Kayla Driscoll and Logan Benson.
