SPRINGFIELD - Lester B. Griffith, 81, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at his home.
He was born on October 16, 1928, in Springfield, the son of Edwin and Cormilia Hetrick Griffith. He married Calista A. Hambush on March 10, 1948, in Rochester. Lester worked for Fiat-Allis for 42 years, retiring in 1983.
Surviving are 2 sisters, Grace Barrington and Oddie Birnbaum; a brother, Leland Griffith; a son, Lester Griffith; a daughter, Vickey Griffith; grandsons, Philip Griffith, Carl Painter, Tommy Painter, and Jason Griffith; a granddaughter, Charity Miller; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Lester was preceded in death by both parents; a brother, Wilbor Griffith; 2 sisters, Augustis Keller and Mable Humphry; and his wife of 59 years, Calista Griffith.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, November 3rd, at the Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield, Pastor Brent Mitchel will officiated.
