BIRTH-MARRIAGE-ISSUE-DEATH-BURIAL: Obituary - The Newton Record, Thursday, May 1, 1902, Page 1, Column 2. "The remains of the late Lindsay Albee, who died of pneumonia, on Tuesday night, April 22nd, in Cedar Rapids, were brought back to his home in this city on Wednesday evening of last week. It was a sad stroke of sorrow to his wife and children here, whom he had left only a week before in his usual health. The funeral services were held in the M. E. Church on Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. C. Willits. The Masonic Order, of which he had long been a faithful member, accompanied by the K. T. Band, attended the services and took charge of the ceremonies at the cemetery. Lindsay Albee was born in Richland Co., Vermont, Oct. 6, 1833, and died April 22, 1902, of pneumonia, aged 68 years, 6 months and 16 days. At the age of 16 he came west to McDonough County, Illinois, with his mother, his father having died six years previous. On December 24, 1854 he was united in marriage to Serena Kennedy, who survives him. In 1855, with his wife he moved to Lee County, Iowa, where he resided until 1863, when he moved to Jasper County, which has since been his home, most of the time on a farm in Palo Alto Township, which he left only a year or two ago – he and his wife coming to town then to enjoy a well merited rest for their remaining years. At an early age he united with the Methodist Episcopal Church, in which for many years he was an earnest and enthusiastic worker both in the church and in the Sabbath school and to which faith he clung until the very last. Father Albee had been in poor health for several years. He died at Cedar Rapids where he had gone to visit a sick daughter. He leaves his wife and eight children, who mourn the loss of a devoted husband and faithful father. His wife, John F. and Miss Ella residing in Newton; William T., residing seven miles southeast of Newton on the old homestead; Charles R., at Jefferson City; Mrs. C. W. Shelley, near Mt. Zion Church; Mrs. Minnie Moss of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Rev. Hickman at Niobara, Neb., and Mrs. Walter Jackson of Colorado Springs."
