Mr Conover was appointed Co Commissioner from District 2 in Aug 1949, to fill out the vacancy created by the death of Robert Weir. In 1950 he filed as a Democratic candidate for state representative. Prior to coming to Montana he served as Deputy Co Treasurer of McCook, NE.
He was a member of the Great Northern Veterans' Assn and chief conductor of the Order of Railway Conductors. His brother, Harry,deceased, was also a Great Northern RR Conductor.
He is survived by his wife, the former Mabel Elizabeth Jordan of Grand Island, Nebraska; two sons: Merlyn Jordan Conover and Harold Everett Conover, both of Great Falls, and a daughter Helen Evelyn (Conover) Altenbach,also of Great Falls; as well as five grandchildren.
