Like a number of his siblings, David was a farmer. He lived all of his adult life in Tioga County. On 2 June 1848, he was listed with the PA Militia. In 1850, his farm was valued at $1,500. By 1860, the value had increased to $1,600. David died rather young at the age of 50, something of a rarity in the Teachman family.
