Arla Glee "Skip" Gorsage, 91, of Hillsboro, died at 11:20 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at Montgomery Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro. Pastor Eric Shewing will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Gorsage was born Jan. 12, 1918, in Litchfield, daughter of the late Robert and Estella (Haley) Felts. She was employed at Brown Shoe Factory in Litchfield and had been assistant manager of the The Gardens restaurant in Litchfield.

She married Douglas D. Gorsage, Sr. on June 30, 1940, at Hillsboro, and he died Dec. 21, 1994.

Mrs. Gorsage leaves three children, David Douglas (wife Janice) Gorsage, Jr. of Edwardsville; Daniel Dean (wife Pamela) Gorsage of Litchfield, and Denise (husband Robert) Stokes of Hillsboro; eight grandchildren, Don Gorsage, David Gorsage, Ryan Stokes, Andrea (Stokes) Rovey, Joshua Gorsage, Michelle Jackson, Holly Leetham and Eric Shewing; and 11 great-grandchildren.





Preceding her in death were one daughter, Darla K. Gorsage on Aug. 18, 1973; one great-granddaughter; five sisters, Mabel Berry, Opal Simpson Weeks, Fern Alee Sexton, Bonita Felts and Naomi Garman; and three brothers, Estell Felts, Truman Felts and John Felts in infancy.
