Letress Idella Cochran was born on January 14, 1918, in Hays County. Her parents were James Hezekiah "Hez" Cocrhan and his wife Amanda Letress Wimberley Cochran. Her maternal grandparents were Andrew Jackson Wimberley and Fanny B. Tanner Wimberley. Her paternal grandparents were Levi Newton Cochran, Sr., and Margaret "Maggie" Jane Brown Cochran. Her great-grandparents on her mother's side were Pleasant Wimberley and Amanda Jackson Wimberley and on her father's side Martin Baty Cochran and Isabella Elizabeth West Cochrtan.
Letress grew up to marry Emmett Dorsey Roberts. The couple had three daughters--Patricia, Helen, and Loretta.
Emmett died in 1992, in Leming, Atascosa County, Texas. Letress died ten years later at the age of 84 on July 22, 2002, also in Leming. They were both buried in the Tumlinson Cemetery in Leming.
