(II) William Jesse was born in Berks County, Pennsylvania, 11 May 1827, died 27 FEB 1903. He married Eleanor Bertram, born in Berks County, Pennsylvania, 08 SEP 1841, died 30 DEC 1904, daughter of Jonathan and Nellie (Roeder) Bertram. He reached maturity in Berks county and there married. After marriage, he moved to Mifflin county, Pennsylvania, about 1848, and located to Brown township. He became a builder and a contractor, following that occupation for many years, and erected many homes of the day in the county. He voted for the Democratic party in national as well as local affairs and was entrusted with various offices of the township, which trust he never betrayed. He was a devout member of the German Lutheran Reformed church, and his wife was an equally devout Presbyterian. He enlisted in a Pennsylvania company during the civil war and served from April until July 1865, but was in no battle.
