Father Cook was born in Bridgeport, Dec. 9, 1895, the son of the late Jerome T. and Ellen Whalen Cook, and attended Bridgeport schools. He was graduated from St. Thomas Seminary in 1915 and was given an appointment to St. Bernard's Seminary in Rochester, N. Y., for the study of philosophy. He then attended St. Mary's Seminary in Baltimore for theology studies and was appointed prefect of discipline at St. Thomas Seminary in 1921.
Father Cook was ordained to the priesthood in rites performed at St. Joseph's Cathedral, Hartford, on June 10, 1922 by the Most Rev. John J. Nilan.
He subsequently served as assistant pastor of St. Thomas Church in Thomaston, St. Rose's Church of New Haven, St. John's Church in Stamford, and at Immaculate Conception Church in Waterbury.
In 1938, he was appointed pastor of St. Michael's Church in Beacon Falls and remained there until March 1954, when he was named pastor of Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford. He served there until his retirement in 1967 and has resided at Holy Trinity Rectory since that time.
He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Thomas E. (Julia) Flanagan of Bridgeport, and several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Friends may call at Holy Trinity Rectory, 68 No. Colony St., Wallingford, today from 7 to 9 p.m. Transferral services to the Church will take place Tuesday at 4 p.m. A mass of the resurrection will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Church Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
A concelebrated mass of the resurrection will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the church. The Most Rev. John F. Whealon, Archbishop of Hartford, will be the principal concelebrant. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford.
