Mrs. Cynthia Furnish, 86, who came to Illinois in a covered wagon before the Civil War, died Monday afternoon at home here of cancer. Mrs. Furnish, who moved to White Heath shortly after her marriage 66 years ago, had been ill several weeks.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday from the United Brethren Church with burial in Ingram Cemetery. Faith Funeral Service of Monticello in charge.

Mrs. Furnish was born March 23, 1854 in Circleville, OH, a daughter of Augustus and Ann Blacker. After coming to Illinois five years later, the family settled at Lovington. She was married to John Furnish (1851-1919)on April 30, 1874. To this union 11 children were born.

Surviving are four sons: George of Anna; Errie, DeLand; Louis and Oscar at home; four daughters: Mrs. Ollie West, Mrs. Pearl Campbell, both of Granite City; Mrs. Charles McDonald and Mrs. Wilma Claxton, both of White Heath. She also leaves five grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Lola Combes of White Heath died in 1935 and two other children preceded their mother in death.
