Julia worked in the Cruickshank Cigar factory.

Daughter of James Alfred "Alf" Prater, "the famous 'Mountain Wonder" best known for his long distance walking and Miss Cordelia Belle Prater (his cousin). Irene married her cousin Ed L Prater, both are buried in Westview along with Irene's parents and paternal grandmother Sarah Ann E. DuPriest-Prater.

She died of arterio sclerosis & hypertension - cerebral hemorrhage.
