A 24-hour search for Mrs. Gertrude Mills, who was crushed beneath tons of wreckage in the Mills Feed Store, 641 Broadway, which fell upon her before she could find saftey, ended at 5-o'clock Sunday afternoon when fatigued rescuers uncovered the mangled body.
Her husband faithfully stood with the workers until the body was taken from the basement and removed to the Wickens memorial. More than 25 truckloads of debris were removed before the body was found. Rescuers said it was beyond human recognition.
