Oct. 25, 1946 - George Pearcy Called by Death -
George Pearcy, aged 73 years, died at his home near the Gee Bridge, southwest of Charleston, at 4:40 o'clock Thursday afternoon, following an illness of four years. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the First Christian Church with the Pastor, Reverend Paul Hubele and Reverend H. L. Hayes, of Arcola officiating. The burial will be made in the Roselawn Cemetery.
The body, removed to the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home, 720 Monroe Street, will remain there until the funeral time, where friends may now call.
Mr. Pearcy leaves his wife Sarah, who celebrated their golden wedding anniversary recently and three sons, Frank Pearcy, Arland Pearcy both of Charleston. Grover Pearcy of Toledo, four daughters, Mrs. S.E. Ferguson, Mrs. Allen Wilson of Charleston, Mrs. Halsey Judson of Greenup and Mrs. Delbert Ingram of Jewett.
Mrs. A.E. Stites, Mrs. T. E. Stevens, Mrs. Mary Bates, Mrs. Martha Cassidy, Mrs. S.S. Stanfield all of Charleston, and Mrs. Jess Cook of Greenup, and Val Pearcy, Ebb Pearcy, and Grover Pearcy, all of Charleston, are the surviving sisters and brothers. Several grandchildren also survive. He was a member of the Christian Church of Charleston. Mr. and Mrs. Pearcy made their home with Mrs. Edith Pearcy, a daughter-in-law.
