Obituary: Robert G. Smith, 68, resident of Abington
Abington -- Robert G. Smith, 68 of Abington, formerly of Whitman, died Monday at Brockton Hospital after a short illness. He was the husband of Virginia (Perruzzi) Smith. Born in Rochester, N.Y., he lived most of his life in Whitman and the last 22 years in Abington. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II. Mr. Smith worked at Masoneilan Dresser Corporation, in Avon as a machinist for 28 years. He and his wife recently celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary. In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons, Daniel R. Smith of Abington and Richard W. Smith and his wife Lynn, of Weymouth; a brother and sister-in-law Walter G. and Anita Smith of Bridgewater; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, 666 Plymouth St., Whitman. The Rev. Mark Greenbagen of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Abington, will officiate. Burial will be in Plain Street Cemetery, Braintree.
