Clifford (Bill) Cross, 73, of Baxter, a lifelong resident of Baxter, died Tuesday, July 3, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ.

The Rev. Darrell Bailey, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery in Baxter.

Friends may call at the Boyd=Davis Funeral Home in Baxter after 2 p.m. today. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials to the family may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Marjorie; a son, Darrell R. of Des Moines; two daughters, Diane C. Hansen of Newton and Susan Mooers of Carlisle; 13 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a brother, Richard of Baxter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and two brothers.

Mr. Cross, a longtime mason, was a member of the Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ, the Bricklayers Union No. 9, the Elks Lodge No. 1270 in Newton and the Loyal Order of Moose No. 923 in Newton.

The son of Denver D. and Glennavere Castor Cross, he was born May 31, 1917 in rural Ira, and was educated in Independence and Spring Hill rural schools and was a 1933 graduate of Baxter Community High School.

He was married to Marie Bollheofer Jan. 10, 1943 in Des Moines.
