Obituary: Charles F. Green was 94 years old
Whitman -- Charles Frank Green, who had made his home with his grandson Harold N. Green, 199 South Ave., died Saturday in the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in his 95th year. A native of Burlington, VT, he had resided in the Whitman Abington area from 1915 to 1930 after having lived in Salem, Newburyport, Haverhill and Plaistow, NH before returning to this town. For many years he was employed as a railroad engineer, and was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. His wife Caroline (Marshall) Green died in 1960. Survivors include a son Carl Green of Bayshore, NY; a daughter Ella Gerstley of West Bridgewater; 11 grandchildren, many great and great-great grandchildren. He was the father of the late George, William, Harry, Frances, amd May Green and Mrs. Flora Smith. The funeral service will be held at the Anderton Funeral Home, 609 Washington St., Whitman, Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Frank Gulinello, minister of the First Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Newburyport, where the committal service will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
