N. L. JONES died at his residence here Sunday morning, age 58 years, 10 months, 29 days. Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ, Monday with Rev. J. P. SEWELL of Abilene officiating. Interment was in the Quanah cemetery.

Mr. Jones was born in Pike County, Arkansas, 1856, on a farm. His father entered the Confederate army and died of pneumonia during the last year of the war. Mr. Jones was married to Miss SALLIE WHTIE of Pike County, Ark., in 1879 and moved to Texas in June 1885 to Erath County, then to Quanah the following July.

Thirteen children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Jones, in the order of their ages, Mrs. P. C. GARDNER (NANNIE), E. A. 'GUS', RUFUS, Dr.
CHARLES B. and LILLIAN, all born in Arkansas; VICTOR (Mrs. J. A. CRISP), CELIA (Mrs. W. F. CAWYER of Mercury), PLEAS W., RUBY T., NONA, N. L. Jr., and LOIS. All the children are living and all but Mrs. Cawyer live at Quanah. They are all members of their parents'
church, the Church of Christ. One brother, C. B. JONES, of Stephenville, Texas, and two sisters, Mrs. A. J. WOMACK of Quanah, and Mrs. L. J. TOLLISON are living within two miles of the homestead in Howard County, Arkansas, are living. Mrs. Jones lives at Quanah.

Mr. Jones was a contracting carpenter and builder by trade. When he came to Quanah, there were few buildings. He built many of the houses and most of the old business buildings. He was county treasurer for many years. In 1891, he fell between the cars of the Denver RR at Vernon and lost both of his legs. He got about on artificial limbs better than most men do on their legs. He was an active member of his church and one of the directors of the Christian College at Abilene. Mr. Jones suffered from Bright's disease. Not until LEE CLISBEE died did he come to understand he was nearing the end.
