Celebration of Life services for Joe Bob Jarman, M.D., 72, Enid, will be Monday, October 26, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Konrad Rock and Rev. Gay Cocheres officiating. Private family burial will be prior to the service in Enid Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Joe Bob Jarman, M.D. was born on December 6, 1936 in Carney, Nebraska, the son of Joe Bob, Sr. and Louise Patterson Jarman, and died Friday, October 23, 2009, at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

Dr. Jarman grew up in Tulsa, graduated from Will Rogers High School. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Oklahoma in 1958, Doctor of Medicine from the University of Oklahoma in 1961, Internship at St. Anthony's Hospital in Oklahoma City in 1962, Orthopedic Residency from the University of Oklahoma under Don H. O'Donohue, M.D. from June 1, 1962 to June 30, 1966. At Oklahoma University, he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity.

Dr. Jarman served two years active duty in the United States Air Force at March Air Force Base, Riverside, California, as a surgeon. He was a board certified member and fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Member of American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine, Past President of the Oklahoma State Orthopedic Society; Chief of Staff, St. Mary's Regional Medical Center and Integris Bass Baptist Health Center; proud team doctor of the Enid High School Plainsmen for 30 years, 1968-1998. He was awarded the Silver Beaver Award by the Boy Scouts of America in 1980 and was a 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner. Dr. Jarman's interests and loves were his little Mountain Cabin in Lake City, Colorado; his wife, children and grandchildren, family time; his furry best friends, Sooner, Packer, Perk, and Russell.

Dr. Jarman is survived by his wife, Sandra, of the home; children, Robert Neil Jarman, M.D., married to Jennifer Kathryn Nelson, M.D.; Janet Jarman McLain, married to Scott Andrew McLain; all of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Margaret Elizabeth Jarman, Jennings Patterson Jarman, Lambert Davis Angel, and Grant Harrison McLain; brother, George W. Jarman, DDS, of Dallas, Texas; goddaughter, Zoie Pauline Worthen; Dr. Jarman's best friend, his golden retriever, Russell.

Dr. Jarman was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Bob Jarman, Sr. and Elizabeth Patterson Jarman. Memorials may be made in Dr. Jarman's memory to University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the fund.
