Dorothy Ann Brooke 72 of 4433 Spruce Drive Newburgh died at 3:30 am today at her home after a year-long battle with cancer. Mrs Brooke, a native of Ontario Canada graduated from Woodstock Hospital in Ontario in 1940 as a registered nurse. She did her post-graduate studies in nursing at Westin Hospital in Toronto Canada. She received her bachelor's degree in theology from Community School of the Bible in Detroit Mich in 1969 and she received a doctor of library science degree from Temple Baptist College in 1982. She also received a doctor of Human Letters from the City University in Los Angeles in 1982. She was recognized by the Indiana Department of Mental Health for her contributions of service to the Evansville Psychiatric Children's Service. Mrs Brooke visited many cities nationwide presenting the gospel in a children's ministry through the use of her collection of more than 400 dolls. She was a volunteer with Children's Evangelism Explosion and she helped supervise the establishment of the new library at Faith Heritage Christian School. Mrs Brooke served as a faculty member and head librarian at Trinity College of the Bible in Newburgh In 1978. She assisted her husband in the relocation of the college from Toledo, Ohio to its present location in Newburgh. Surviving in addition to her husband are three daughters, a son, one brother, two sisters and six grandchildren. Services will be at 11 am Monday at Faith Heritage Baptist Church with the Rev Maurice Melton officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Newburgh. Friends may call from 1:30 to 8 pm Sunday at Boone Funeral Home — 5330 Washington Ave. The family said friends if they wish may make memorial contributions to Gideons International.
