He graduated from California State University, Fresno in 1967 with a B.A. Degree in History.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1973, attending Officer Candidate School and becoming a Captain in 1969. He served in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970. He was then stationed in Germany until 1973.
After returning to the states, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service from 1974 to 1998. He then worked at State Compensation Fund from 1999 to 2009.
David will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He was always known for his knowledge of history, his generous heart, and his love for his Savior, Jesus Christ.
David, age 64, was born on September 15, 1944, in Kansas City, Mo. to John and Charlene Stanberry who both survive their son.
He was a loving and devoted husband to Susan for 25 years; and a loving father to Matthias, Nicholas and his wife Alyssa, Anastasia, Justus and Evangeline Bier- Stanberry, all of Clovis. David is also survived by his sister, Linda Stanberry, and her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Rudy Winnacker, and Linda's grandchildren, Glenn Stanberry and Elizabeth and Helen Winnacker, as well as numerous other relatives.
There will be a Viewing at Serenity Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 from 2:00 to 5:30 p.m.
A Funeral Service will be held at Riverpark Bible Church on Thursday, August 27, 2009, at 11:00 a.m.
