OBITUARY

[From the Dorchester Beacon.] Mr. Henry Chaffin, a highly respected citizen of Dorchester, died at his home, 175 Glenway street, on Monday, Dec. 29, at the age of 75 years.

Mr. Chaffin was born in Holden, Mass., 1827. At the age of 22 years he came down to Boston, entering the employ of Call and Tuttle. In 1853 he went into the custom tailoring and gents furnishing business for himself, which he successfully continued in Boston for nearly 50 years.

He had been in poor health for some years, but his death was quite unexpected at the last. He is survived by a widow and nine children, five sons and four daughters. Mr. and Mrs. Chaffin had been married 43 years, this being the first break in the family circle.

Funeral services were held at his late home Wednesday; Dec 31, at 12.30 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. W.T. Beal, D.D., of the Harvard Congregational church. The interment was at eventide in the family lot at Swan Point, Providence, R.I., overlooking Narragansett Bay.

Mr. Chaffin was the father of Mrs. C. Washburn and was known to many people in Falmouth.
