Verona - Charles A. Miller, age 68, of Verona, passed away very unexpectedly on Friday, April 21, 2000. Charles was born in the town of Middleton on September 29. 1931 to George and Lucille (Dreger) Miller. He married Ruth Hagemann on October 10, 1950. They had four children. They lived and farmed in the Verona area, where Charles was very active in the West Middleton Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council. He was chairman of the Middleton Junction Cemetery Board. He was 4-H Leader for the Gordon Go Getters for serval years and was chosen as an Honorary Chapter Farmer. He loved gardening, fishing, bowling and playing cards. He played solo with four of his closest friends every month, for 50 years. He also went on yearly fishing trips with his close card playing buddies. He was a member of the Sugar River Euchre League. He always had plenty of delicious fruits and vegetables for all his children, family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; four children, Paul (Donna) Miller of Barneveld; Tom Miller of Ithaca; Robert (Susan-fiance) Miller of Vesper; and Donna (Gilbert) Liegel of Belleville; seven grandchildren, Brian, Brad, and Michael Miller of Barneveld; Cole Miller of Ithaca; Eric Liegel of Belleville, Lexa and Cassandra Miller of Mt. Horeb; a sister and brother-in-law, Marion(Ralph) Kahl of Mt. Horeb; a sister-in-law, Arlien Stecekblerg of Verona; a brother-in-law, Richard (Patricia) Hagemann of Milwaukee and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lucille Miller; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fred and Rose Hagemann, brother-in-law, Lowell Steckelberg. Funeral services will be held at the West Middleton Lutheran Church, corner of Mineral Point and Pioneer Road on Tuesday, April 25 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor David Brandfass officiating. Burial will be at the Middleton Junction Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Monday, April 24, 2000, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Gunderson Funeral Home, 7435 University Avenue (near Parmenter Street), Middleton. Friends may also call from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the West Middleton Lutheran Church, American Heart Foundation or the Diabetes Foundation. We will miss him dearly. He is gone from our sight, but will never be missed in our hearts.
