Gary Krause, 52, of Brainerd, died Dec. 17, 2004, in Mesa, Ariz., following a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services for Gary will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd with the Rev. Nate Lundgren officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens at Brainerd. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter and for one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.

Gary Leonard Krause was born on April 5, 1952, in Breckenridge, Minn., the son of Leonard and Lila (Dakar) Krause. He was called from this life on Dec. 17, 2004, in Mesa, Ariz. He had attained the age of 52 years, eight months and 12 days.

In May of 1971, he was united in marriage to Norma Stahl. To this union, three sons were born. Gary and Norma were able to share 33 years of marriage together. After their marriage, Gary and Norma lived in the Twin Cities where he worked as a cement finisher and then became a locksmith. They moved to Brainerd in 1985 and in 1988 started Krause Lock and Key. After building a successful business they sold it in 1999.

Gary was a member of First Lutheran Church, ALOA, the Moose Lodge and the Eagles Club. Among the things he enjoyed doing were hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, riding motorcycle and restoring old cars.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Leonard Gene, and a 19-year-old son, Bill. Gary is mourned in passing by his wife, Norma of Brainerd; son, Dustin and Heidi LaFlex; the apple of his eye, granddaughter, Alyssa; parents, Leonard and Lila; sisters, Sharon Elsner of Alexandria and Karen Johnson of Battle Lake; brothers, Dr. Kevin Krause (Teresa) of Glendale, Ariz., and Jeff (Wendy) Krause of Fergus Falls; also many nieces and nephews.

Services are entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
