Mrs. William Ryan of Rochester, a native of Eyota, died at St. Mary's Hospital early today at the age of 70 years. She was taken to the hospital Thursday following an illness of seven weeks.
Mrs. Ryan was born at Eyota, July 29, 1873. Her maiden name was Elizabeth Cunningham. At the age of 12 she moved to Rochester with her parents and resided here until 1908, when she moved to Scranton, N.D. She was married here 53 years ago.
After residing in Scranton until 1929, Mrs. Ryan moved to Chicago and lived there until August, 1941, when she returned to Rochester.
She is survived by her husband, of Rochester; eight children, Ada, Katharine and Mrs. Edward Clark of Rochester, Timothy of Norfolk, Va., where he is in the navy, Mrs. Michael Pierce of Amidon, N.D., Mrs. Chester Johnson of Scranton, N.D., and Mrs. Arthur Mason and Mrs. Jason Hawkins of Chicago; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and one brother, William Cunningham of Rochester.
Also surviving are a sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Cunningham of Scranton, N.D., and a niece, Mrs. Arthur Burke of Rochester.
Funeral services will be held at St. John's Catholic Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery at a time to be announced. The body will be at the home at 15th Avenue NW after 2 p.m. tomorrow.
