The following information is from contributor Dennis Brandt (member #47232334):

" In 1860, he was living with and/or working for tenet farmer Jacob Hartranft in Penn Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He married Elizabeth Blantz March 15, 1864, in Warwick Township, Lancaster County, and fathered Isabella (b. 06/15/64), Franklin (b. 05/06/65), Clayton (b. 01/??/68), Milton (b. 03/02/71), Adam J. (b. 09/10/72), Addison J. (b. @1873), Henry (b. 06/30/74), Edward (b. 09/08/76), William (b. @1880), and Robert (b. 08/24/82).

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted and mustered into federal service at Lancaster September 2, 1864, as a private with Independent Battery C Pennsylvania Light Artillery. On January 12, 1865, he was among those transferred to Battery I, 5th Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery (204th Pa). He then transferred again, date as yet unknown, as a unassigned man with the 3rd Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery (152nd Pa), and honorably discharged by general order July 10, 1865. His military records alternately report his middle initial as "K" and "R," which was commonplace for the times.

In 1880, he was living in Cornwall Township, Lebanon County. He died in Lebanon. "
