On November 18, 1893, he was united in marriage to Lena Riber. They established their home on a farm south of Ruskin, Nebraska, where they were living at the time of his death, which occurred early Monday morning, December 16, 1929. He had suffered more or less from ill health for the last thirty years. His last illness, which lasted about three weeks, was complicated and ended with a paralytic stroke Sunday morning after which he never regained consciousness.
He had been a faithful member of the Danish Lutheran Bethany church for about thirty-five years. He had a deep interest in the advancement of the Kingdom of God and always rejoiced when ...
He was a devoted husband and father and had a sincere interest in the spiritual welfare of his family. As a Christian he leaves an indelible memory in the hearts of his family and many friends.
He is survived by his widow and seven children: Elmer of Mitchell, Nebr., Mrs. Mildred Simonson, Mrs. Myrtle West, Vincent, Sheldon, Helen and Grace, all of Ruskin. The oldest daughter Alice preceded him in death March 13, 1918 at the age of twenty years. Also surviving him are his father Kristen Olsen, four brothers: Martin, Peter, Chris and Hhorval, and two sisters, Mrs. John Benson and Mrs. A.C. Andersen.
Funeral services were held at the Danish Lutheran Bethany Church, Wednesday, Dec. 18, 1929.
