1st Lt Tanner was Killed in Action during the Korean War. Tanner was a co-pilot on a B-26B Invader bomber assigned to the 8th Bomber Squadron, 3rd Bomber Group. On November 28, 1950, while on a combat mission over N. Korea, contact with Tanner's aircraft was lost. Initially Tanner was listed as Missing in Action. On January 14, 1954, his status was changed to Killed in Action Body Not Recovered. Tanner's name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing.
