Cherie Ann Weir Edmonson, 42, of Athens, died Thursday morning, July 3, 2008.

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Billy Ray Weir Sr., and was a member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Floyd and Emma Peters; and her paternal grandparents, Luther and Gladys Edmonson.

Survivors include her husband, David M. Edmonson of Athens; one daughter and son-in-law, Alisha M. and Elijah Evans of Athens; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Katelyn Edmonson of Riceville; four grandchildren, Sarah Ann and Emma Kate Edmonson and Huston and Tyler Evans; her mother and stepfather, Barbara Weir Hawkins and Frank Hawkins of Athens; three brothers and one sister-in-law, David Weir of Athens, Billy R. Jr. and Rachel Weir and their children, all of Rockwood, and Andy T. Weir of Rockwood; her grandmother, Anna Belle Weir of Athens; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and special friends.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Van Sliger officiating. Family and friends will meet at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at McMinn Memory Gardens for the 10 a.m. burial.

Pallbearers will be Steven and Lucky Duggan, James Morrow, Danny L. and Johnny H. Edmonson and Jeffery Weir. Honorary pallbearers will be Dean Wallace, Alan Cantrell and Tom Weir.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Ziegler Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of arrangements.
