SAMUEL - October 9, 1894, in Racine, Wisconsin, aged 62 years, Eliza, wife of Evan Samuel. She was born in a farmhouse near Aberystwyth, and her parents, Thomas and Ann Jones, and several children, came to America in 1841, settling in the Waukesha area, so they were among the first Welsh people in the area. Their farm was called Maes Mawr. In 1855, the family moved to South Bend, Minnesota. In 1857, the deceased married Evan Samuel, Raicine, and here, she lived the rest of her life, except for about 10 years on the farm near the city. Nine children were born to them, five of whom died young, and four remain, namely William, Gorner in North Dakota, and Thomas Llewellyn, Annie and Hannah in Racine. Mrs Samuel languished in tuberculosis for many years; but recently he had been subjected to great weakness. She endured it all patiently and patiently, and died as he had lived, quietly and peacefully. She was characterized as a hard-working and dedicated woman, and especially for taking care of her family, and she did not consider any sacrifice too much for their sake. To enable her husband to give his services to the singing of the sanctuary, and many other works in the years that have passed, she happily took on all the family cares in order to promote the way for him. The burial took place on October 12; after a short service in the house the remains were taken to the place of worship of the Calvinist Order, where he was a member.
