Minnie Cox - JOHNSON CITY
Minnie Deaton Fair Cox, age 92, of Johnson City, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at Lakebridge Healthcare Center, Johnson City, following a lengthy illness.
A lifelong native of Johnson City, she was a daughter of the late Billy Joe and Mary McNabb Deaton. Mrs. Cox was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Hexie Fair; and her second husband, James Cox; two brothers, Billy Joe Deaton and Eugene Deaton; one sister, Winnie Tipton; three step children, Michael Cox, Harrison Cox and Linda Bennett.
Survivors include six sons, Jerry Fair, Danny Fair, Mickey Cox, Ricky Cox, Victor Cox and Terry Cox, all of Johnson City; three daughters, Jewel Cash and Mary Frances Ahern, both of Chicago, IL, Christine Thompson, Limestone, TN; two step children, Robert Cox, Jonesborough, Ronnie Cox, Hickory, NC; twenty-eight Grandchildren; Thirty-five Great Grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mrs. Cox, will be conducted on Thursday, October 22, 2009, at 7:00 P.M. from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Pastor Donnie Humphries officiating. Music will be provided by Mrs. Theresa Hyatt.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.
The graveside service and entombment will be held Friday, October 23, 2009, at 12 noon from Monte Vista Memorial Park. Those who wish to attend the graveside service is asked to meet at the funeral home Friday at 11:30 A.M. to travel in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Aaron Cox, Eric Cox, Michael Cox, Bradley Cox, Travis Cox, Bobby Thompson, Stevie Fair and Jamie Hughes.
