John Harrison Scobee was born Oct 21, 1888, in Missouri to parents Stephen Jesse Hawk Scobee (1850-1910) and Matilda E. Erickson (1854-1936), both born in Missouri.

John was raised in a life of farming in Stone County, Missouri. He was the 10th child in a family of 11 or 12 known children. His brothers and sisters were: Safrona E., Nancy A., Delila E., Susan A., Benjamin F., Jenny V., twins Gracie and Stacie, Stinson, and George.

Very little is known regarding John's life. He is indexed as an "inmate" and married in the 1930 census for the United States Penitentiary Hospital in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. In the occupation column he is listed as a barber assistant.

On his Missouri Death Certificate, John is listed as married, age 45, and his wife is Grace E. Scobee. He died on June 23, 1934, of pulmonary TB in Webb City, Jasper County, Missouri. His occupation is listed as barber.

John was buried on June 25, 1934, in the Carterville Cemetery in Jasper County.
