"ALESTER B. HANSON
Alester B. Hanson was born in Clark County, Iowa, January 16, 1857, and passed away at his home at 1007 North Jackson Street, Lexington, Nebraska, December 16, 1944, aged 87 years and 11 months.
On February 14, 1883 he was united in marriage to Elmira Roseberry Martin in Osceola, Iowa. In the fall of 1886 they moved to Wallace County, Kansas where they endured the hardships incidental to pioneer life for 17 years. During this time two daughters, Belle Josephine and Lillian were born. After selling their interests in Wallace county they bought a stock farm near the Soloman River at Geylord, Kansas. The family moved to York, Nebraska in 1904, where they resided until the death of Mrs. Hanson in 1935. From then until the time of his death Mr. Hanson made his home with his daughter, Lillian in Cozad and Lexington, Nebraska.
When a young man, Mr. Hanson united with the Primitive Baptist Church and remained a loyal and faithful believer in its teaching until death. His one main interest during his life was farming. After he discontinued active farm work he still supervised the management of the farms. He was respected by all who knew him for his kindness, patience, and honesty.
Mr. Hanson was preceded in death by his three sisters and two brothers, and one daughter, Belle Jackson. Surviving besides his daughter, Lillian are two grandsons, Marion Jackson of Madison, Wisconsin and Lowell Jackson of Elgin, Illinois.
Funeral services were held at the Newman Chapel in Lexington, Nebraska, December 20, 1944, at 10 o'clock a. m., with Elder W. S. Craig of Cozad, Nebraska officiating. Interment was in the Greenwood cemetery at York, Nebraska."
