He was the son of George W. & Mary (Agee) Cox. Martin married Rachel Floyd 20 April 1884 in Dent County, MO. They had five children: Bettie M.; Martha A.; Mary E, married J. Edwin Duckworth; Etta, married Joseph Southards; and Alpheus E, married Bessie Mitchell. Martin was a Civil War veteran.
