Charles A. Boyer, 78, of Wampum RD 2, a retired telegrapher for the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad, died at 4:50 a.m. yesterday at the home of his son, Charles W. of New Galilee RD 1, after an extended illness.

He was born in Somerset county, April 9, 1887, to the late Esta and Rachael Albright Boyer. His first wife, Mayme Baker, died in 1940. He later married Pearl Lowry, who died in 1958.

Mr. Boyer was a member of the Order of Railroad Telegraphers. He attended the Wampum UP Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Emma Phiemann of Sunnyville, Calif.; four sons, Charles W., Harry of Ellwood City and Glen and Raymond of Wampum RD 2; four step-daughters, Mrs. Mildred Telow of Tampa, Fla., Mrs. Jean Houk and Mrs. Marilyn Johnson of New Castle and Mrs. Dorothy Mohr of Wampum RD 2; 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Friends will be recieved in the Marshall Funeral Home, Main St., Wampum, from 7 to 9 p.m. today. A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. tomorrow in the funeral home by Rev. John Karnes. Burial will be in Clinton cemetery.
